Our Story
Farina founders Edy Piro and Paolo Petrillo have been friends for more than 20 years since they met in London through a circle of mutual Italian friends.
Both moved to London from the ‘motherland’ of pizza in their early twenties, Paolo from Naples and Edy from nearby Salerno. After years of making pizza together in their Notting Hill flat and taste-testing every pizzeria in London (and of course every chance they have at home in Naples) it was only a matter of time until they would cleverly unite their love of good food, good friends and good fun into a successful partnership.
Just as creating perfection in the simplest of things like pizza, a well-balanced partnership can be the most intricate.
Their friendship is the story of two men – as opposite as the principle of Yin and Yang (think ‘The Odd Couple’ Felix & Oscar) – who come together as a form of inseparable and contradictory harmony. Edy is an artist, an architect, a social media pioneer and trends guru whilst Paolo is the slick business mind who handles the nuts and bolts of the operations, keeping everyone’s feet on the ground..
Beyond the realm of pizza, the men also share the love of coffee, home renovations and driving on two wheels.
Edy has already been a successful entrepreneur before Farina, having launched Terrone & Co in 2011, a coffee micro-roastery, based in North London with roasting facilities located in the heart of Tottenham Hale that source and offer a curated selection of the world's best specialty coffees.
Paolo enjoys a successful career in corporate finance for some of the biggest global brands in Retail, Real Estate & Entertainment -simultaneously of course drinking an abundance of Edy’s coffee to keep him going!
…and if they weren’t busy enough, they simultaneously project managed their own complete home renovations while launching Farina!
Between them, Edy and Paolo have owned more than 35 (and counting!) motorcycles, scooters and bicycles since moving to London.
